Ormer Boys Selected For JPL Representative Team

Two Ormer FC players have the honour of representing the Nerf Junior Premier League Representative Team, which will play six games against category one academies. Joe Adams and Finley Du Port both came through their two day trials with great distinction. Joe undertook his trial days at Beversbrook Sports Facility in Wiltshire, where academy style training was given each morning and high intensity games as part of the afternoon sessions.

Finley underwent his trials at Evesham United Football Club in Worcestershire, this was again the same format with a lot of pass and move style training and fast action games in the afternoon. The boys were both put through their paces and all the afternoon games were filmed by the Junior Premier League coaches.

To be selected, players were evaluated on the four components that the Junior Premier League believe make up a football player. The components they look for in each trialist consisted of, technique, tactics, fitness and athletic ability and the final one was psychological component (attitude). The players had to wait for over a month to find out if they had been selected, some players had been chosen already from their outstanding performances in the previous season, which left limited spaces available. The Junior Premier League coaches, went through hours of filmed footage of all the training sessions/games around the country, before making their decision on final selections.

The players reward for making the representative team, is playing against six top ranked Premier League academy sides. One of which is the new 200 million pound Manchester City football academy campus, which is being hailed as the best of its kind in the world. They will also get the chance to play Chelsea at their highly regarded Cobham training ground. The other teams the Ormer boys will play are Southampton, West Bromwich Albion, Stoke City and Bournemouth. Both players will atttend a training camp in October half term, as well as a midweek match. Joe starts with Chelsea in an under 12 match, where Finley gets to play Southampton in an under 11 match.

Prior to this they have another game in the UK for Ormer FC against The Isle Of Wight Academy on Saturday 24th October.
