Finley underwent his trials at Evesham United Football Club in Worcestershire, this was again the same format with a lot of pass and move style training and fast action games in the afternoon. The boys were both put through their paces and all the afternoon games were filmed by the Junior Premier League coaches.
To be selected, players were evaluated on the four components that the Junior Premier League believe make up a football player. The components they look for in each trialist consisted of, technique, tactics, fitness and athletic ability and the final one was psychological component (attitude). The players had to wait for over a month to find out if they had been selected, some players had been chosen already from their outstanding performances in the previous season, which left limited spaces available. The Junior Premier League coaches, went through hours of filmed footage of all the training sessions/games around the country, before making their decision on final selections.
