The concept of the Ormer Football Club was founded in 2014. From a simple perspective we believe that there should be more players from the Guernsey area training and playing at a higher standard of football than they might receive at a local club level.
We are looking to invite players across a number of age groups, who we believe have the ability and dedication to play and develop at a higher level and would benefit from specialist training.
The aim of Ormer Football Club is to deliver coaching sessions that players would receive at professional clubs in the UK. We are looking for technically gifted players who will concentrate upon developing control, technique and game awareness. The benefit for the players is that they will receive coaching in a unique competitive environment, utilizing the best facilities in the island whist continuing their training and playing for their local club at the week-end. The ultimate aim is to develop teams that will compete in the Nerf Junior Premier League, alternatively we will will play representative games against professional academies, development centres, UK based club sides and enter a range of competitive tournaments during holidays thus giving exposure to players from Guernsey without conflicting with the hard work local clubs have put into developing players.
During the early part of 2016 Ormer FC expanded their operation to include a senior womens team who will pursue a similar pathway to the youth team by competing in the UK. To facilitate this process it was decided that during the inaugural season the women would play a series of friendlies against UK based opposition and enter the Hampshire Cup. In addition to this they will complement their competitive football experience by participating in the Guernsey based Itchyfeet League.
